Eco Cradle

Eco Cradle

ECO-TEK’s rubber cradles and base packers are manufactured from high quality SBR rubber recycled from vehicle tyres. Together with our cradle packers, LVL beams and overlaid with a suitable load distribution layer, they create a high-performance acoustic subfloor.

Commonly used in refurbishment, conversion and new build projects, the ECO-Cradle is a versatile and environmentally friendly floor system able to provide adjustable finished floor heights. The system also enables accurate on-site levelling to eliminate unevenness in the structural floor surface.

Why use the ECO Cradle system

Pack & level acoustic subfloor

Improved impact and airborne sound insulation

Reduced embodied carbon vs screed

Light weight system reducing loading in high rise apartment structures

Recycled rubber cradles with 60-year guarantee

Wet underfloor heating systems can be incorporated

Suitable for all floor finishes including ceramic tiles

Lower Construction Costs

Recent studies have demonstrated that the lightweight pack & level cradle system in place of concrete screeds can significantly reduce construction costs in high rise apartment projects. Lower construction costs are realized due to less rebar reinforcing in the structure and a faster installation program by omitting heavier screeds. This is complemented by lower embodied carbon solutions that are kinder to the environment.

Lower Embodied Carbon

Cement is one of the worst contributors to embodied carbon in the construction industry, especially when considering water usage. The ECO cradle system contains over five times less embodied carbon than a traditional sand and cement screed.

Acoustic Performance

The cradle pack & level system has been adopted for many high-rise apartment projects around the UK and is a tried and tested solution for compliance with Document E of the UK sound regulations. Rubber cradle mounts ensure robust support for the floor system which will not degrade or collapse over time. This is critical to deliver long-term acoustic performance that will not degrade overtime due to domestic or commercial loading. The recycled ECO cradle achieves high levels of acoustic insulation with impact sound reductions of up to 28dB. The current acoustic standards are based on a minimum level, therefore specifying systems that achieve acoustic performance in excess to the building regulations are recommended. The ECO cradle consistently delivers acoustic performance in excess to the building regulations giving specifiers the confidence that buildings are not only compliant but create comfortable living spaces improving health and wellbeing for the occupants.
